For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you invited me into your home. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison and you visited me. Then these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitalitiy. Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you? And the King will tell them, 'I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.' - Matthew 25:35-40
There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving. There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us, as a means of helping the entire church. - 1 Cor 12:4-7
We make
an effort to visit people in the hospital. We make home
visits and phone calls to people that just need somebody to listen
or a welcoming family. COMPASSIONATE CARE also wants to listen
to others, find the needs that families have, and try to find ways
to help those families
If you’ve ever been in a tight situation or family crisis, you might be able to imagine how helpful a warm meal, prepared by another family in the church brought to your door might be. These are examples of how COMPASSIONATE CARE wants to help others.
And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshipped together at a temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity - all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved. - Acts 2:44-47
All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. - 2 Cor 1:3-4
