...and we hope it's the best possible way to live
10.2006 - Simple Living. We will be be trying to continue our emphasis of simply loving God and staying close to Him, letting Him produce the fruit as we work on being authentically spiritually transformed.
We will spend the month of October setting this effort up in our small group program, allowing this spiritual formation to happen within close-knit community.
??.??.2006 - Other Activities? As we try to figure out how to live simple lives, we will be looking for suggestions to help us accomplish that. What will it be? Potluck's? Progressive Dinners? Pic-nics...?
Need Prayer? There is no need too small
We've bought into a lie that is flaunted all around us. The lie that everything must be able to do more and be more. Technology must be able to be smaller and faster. It must be able to hold more and process more information. We begin to believe that everything around us should continue to make our lives easier.
While this may be a great thing in technology, we have let this attitude seep into our minds and our hearts. We are starting to live as if we - as human beings - are the latest iPOD. We keep thinking that if we can only update our lifestyle, we will have an easier happier life.
And it's killing our souls.
We want to be a part of something that is more real. A part of community that realizes that there is something more than "us". A part of something that says the best way to live is still found in simple surrender to a God that says, "Stay connected to me, and I will stay connected to you." (John 15)
We want to do this in real communities that can focus on spiritual formation. Things like love, service, discipline, and worship. We want to step into this old, ancient story and play are part.
We want to help God with His project.
The whole concept is staggering. Some would call it impossible.
We call it Shechinah.
